In early 2024, co-founders Alex Rivera and Jordan Chen — both parents juggling demanding tech careers and active family lives in San Francisco — found themselves in an all-too-familiar situation. Despite using multiple calendar apps, shared documents, and a refrigerator covered in sticky notes, they kept missing events, double-booking weekends, and spending more time coordinating than connecting.

They envisioned something different: an app that could understand a voice command like "Add soccer practice every Tuesday at 4," scan a paper school newsletter and extract every date automatically, and send reminders smart enough to factor in traffic. An app built for families, not for individuals who happen to share a household.

That vision became CoupleCal. After months of prototyping, testing with 50 families in the Bay Area, and iterating relentlessly on feedback, the public beta launched in mid-2025. The response was immediate — 10,000 families signed up in the first month. Today, CoupleCal is trusted by over 50,000 families across the United States, with international expansion underway.

We're headquartered in San Francisco, but our team of 15 works from across the country, united by a belief that families deserve tools as thoughtful as the people who use them.
